THE FARM

Visit and explore our award winning organic regenerative farm.

Conygree Farm, the home of Cotswolds Under Canvas, is something a little special.

Forming part of the National Trusts’ Sherborne Park Estate near Northleach in the heart of the Cotswold Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the farm is 72 hectares of flower rich pasture and arable land producing organic, regenerative and pasture fed meat, habitat for farmland birds, bees and butterflies. It is also the foreground to the Trusts historic Lodge Park. It is farmed by Jonty and Mel and a few willing helpers!

We are passionate about farming and the natural environment believing that for the two to thrive they must go hand in hand. Rare breeds, local food, resource conservation, carbon sequestration and rural enterprise are all part of the mix. The planting of 12,000 trees in 2021 created new areas for visitors to walk and explore.

We are not interested in producing the highest yields or fastest growing animals; we want our farm to be a landscape rich in heritage, flora and fauna, and grazed extensively by naturally maturing native breeds such as our Cotswold sheep and Traditional Hereford cattle.

We also run a small livery for horses, have bee hives producing wildflower honey, and run a 2.5 acre organic market garden growing 50 different salad, veg, fruit and herb crops.

Our lamb, hogget and beef have won numerous National Trust Fine Farm Produce Awards in recent years in recognition of its wonderful taste and cookability.  Only meat from farms with high environmental and animal welfare standards can be entered for this award. We also scooped the National Trust's prestigious Farming with Nature Award in 2017.

Jonty, Mel and the farm have featured on Springwatch, Countryfile, James Martin's Home Comforts and Japanese TV.

Our love of sharing the farm with others, and hosting educational visits and farm walks, gave us the idea for Cotswolds Under Canvas. We hosted our first wedding for a friend in 2011 and others, including our own, followed!  We purchased the tipis in 2019 and formally launched in 2021 (Covid getting in the way a little!).
